Happy Valentine’s Day, folks! This week, we asked you to sound off about the V-Day candy that you love to the moon and back, and we’re getting a sugar rush just reading about them. We aren’t voting for a winner this week, because this Co-Op is about love, not war, but feel free to wax poetic about your picks in the comments.
I am not a fan of chocolate in general, but these new (new to me) Lindor strawberry white chocolates are insane. Like you will get fat and miserable cuz you will be unable to stop eating them. So... buy only a small box. They are THAT good. - TheCureForHope
Brach’s Jube Jel Cherry Hearts! My dad used to buy a couple bags near V-day and then hide them in his bedroom. He would come out, look sideways at my sister and I, and throw us each a couple. It made them so special. Now I go out on the 15th and buy us both enough to last several months! They’re best when the bag has been open a couple days to make them a bit chewier. - CatrionaShadowleaf
My absolute favorite. They’re getting harder and harder to find, though. Last year I could only find the deceptive cinnamon hearts. Thank goodness I didn’t fall for that disappointing con. (Con is short for confection.) - Natty_Gorgon
Russell Stover Marshmallow Hearts (in milk chocolate, though dark chocolate is pretty good, too). They are...perfect. Not too big, not too small. VERY sweet (but it’s the day for it!). They are a bit gooey, but not too sticky, and the chocolate shell has just the right amount of crunch...not too thin where it explodes when you bite it, but not so thick that all the marshmallow bursts out. The Strawberry Cream hearts are awesome as well, but the marshmallow ones are just right. And they are often on sale at 3 for $2...not bad for a ‘treat’ type candy.
Oh, and they have a SUGAR FREE version as well, and they aren’t exorbitant like sugarless candy usually is...and they taste almost as good as the original (some might like them better as they are less sweet). Now that I am diabetic, I can have my Valentine’s treat without ANY guilt! - Osmodious
This applies to most holidays. Pink Reese’s hearts (or white ghosts or yellow eggs...). I really liked Reese’s cups, but I’m practically allergic to chocolate. About half of their non-chocolate stuff still contains cocoa butter and I don’t really like the white cups. There’s usually one thing I can eat every season. - madcow3417
Yeah, my vote’s on these. The tangerine/ancho chile one might get my top choice if I had to pick, but part of the appeal is having a large (gorgeous, reusable) box of more fancy truffles than you can possibly eat in one sitting, in a variety of interesting flavors (some of which are slightly offbeat but all of which are tasty). The truffles are beautiful, wonderfully flavored, and not too sweet. The handmade paper box has a removable label so you can keep other stuff in it (my mom uses one for jewelry; my husband uses one for gaming dice).
These aren’t necessarily Valentine’s Day-specific, but they have red filling, so I’m gonna say they count. I could house an entire package of Ghirardelli’s dark chocolate squares with raspberry filling. Hell, I’d probably eat them until I was hospitalized if you gave me an unlimited supply.
